The Neuron and Synapse
This process of acquiring information(SENSATION), transmitting it for processing, integrating it into an action plan and finally transmitting the resultant plan into action is carried out by highly specialised cells termed as NEURONS.
NEURON is the most basic structural unit. The NEURON transmits information electrochemically. The chain of NEURONS from sensation to action form a CIRCUIT. The site of contact between two NEURONS is termed as SYNAPSE.
